Tom and Jerry: Infurnal Escape (Game Boy Advance) - Description
Game Ratings
Cranky cat and mischievous mouse are back in a platform adventure in which Tom must work his way through five cartoon worlds or risk becoming cat-stew.
Apparently, Tom's antics have caught up with him, as he has been banished to the fiery underworld. It's up to you to redeem this frisky feline by completing missions for a helpful angel.
You start in the Dog Army Camp, where you must collect 30 golden bones while avoiding the patrolling canines. Later you will progress to Circus, Mansion and other levels.
When Tom loses a life he quickly strikes a funereal pose, complete with flowers, and is ushered off to the underworld. Fortunately, there is a way to claw back from oblivion. (Every cat has nine lives, right?) If you can collect three souls in under two minutes you will be returned to the last level you were on.
Each world is filled with numerous enemies, including Jerry and MephiSpikeles, ruler of the underworld. Nets, giant bear traps, and of course, bottomless pits dot your path.
Infurnal Escape is fairly straightforward platforming action, but some puzzle elements will keep you on your toes. Flipping switches will activate moving platforms and open doors. You can also ignite the occasional barrel of TNT to blow a hole in a wall.
The simple graphics are true to the classic cartoon. Power-ups, such as a fish bowl that restores Tom's health, are right in line with the animated shorts' madcap spirit.
Tom and Jerry in Infurnal Escape features more Tom than Jerry. The underworld theme keeps it planted firmly in the world of cartoons. Typical platforming is complemented by some fun moments of slapstick comedy.
