NDS Worms Return On DS

THQ has officially announced Worms: Open Warfare 2 for the Nintendo DS. Bring out the banana bombs and exploding sheep! Update 12 screenhots added to the story.

THQ today announced that Worms: Open Warfare 2 is scheduled to blast its way onto the PSP, Nintendo DS, and wireless handsets this summer. Players will be able to challenge others from all over the world via multiplayer battles using a wireless connection as they command their worms through clashes that take place in famous battles of the past, as well as fictional fights of the future. Battles include the Spanish Armada conquest in "Pirates!", the frontlines of real war in "World War II" and laser shooting spaceships in "Space War!" among others.

Worms: Open Warfare 2 builds upon the success of last year's Worms: Open Warfare. In addition to the classic Deathmatch mode, the game also includes robust new single and multiplayer modes such as Rope Race, Fort, Puzzle and Campaign modes that challenge players to use new strategies and teamwork to defeat their enemies. The new Firing Range allows gamers to test their weapons skills, including 11 new weapons like the Bunker Buster and Buffalo of Lies as well as classics such as the Super Sheep, Concrete Donkey and the Holy Hand Grenade. Gamers that take the battle online will be able to demonstrate their Worms combat prowess with daily updated stats and leaderboards on the official Worms website. Players will also enjoy the new, in-depth customization options including custom landscape and team flag editors in addition to modified hats, tombstones and victory dances for their worm teams.

 • I love Worms series but the Open Warfare truely sucked. The intelligence level on the computer is way too low. Almost all of the opponent's turn is spent on deciding on what to do and left with not enough time to actually execute the action. The best strategy for that game is to use Blow Torch to dig under a certain opponent, then the rest of the opponent will try to attach the surface above you, which kills another opponent.

 • The good thing about this Worms game on DS is that its Online enabled. This months issue of ONM UK had a preview of it and the developers have announced it to be online enabled for up to 4 or something players.

 • From our games-page (which holds more information on the title: "Worms: Open Warfare 2 is the ultimate handheld mutliplayer title and you can now challenge Worms fiends anywhere, any time, any place. Connect online with Wifi Connection, play nearby friends in wireless mode or simply pass your DS around in Hot-Seat mode. Along with the classic Deathmatch mode, players will be able to take down the opposition in the classic Forts mode, where teams strategically choose a fort type to fight on, and the all new Race mode, where players can test thier skill on the bungie rope and jetpack in a race to the finish!"
