ALL Japan: Nintendo Weekly Sales News

DSi sells 171,925 units in first two days with Nintendo console titles owning the Top 50.

For the week of October 27 to November 2, Nintendo remained in control of the Japanese market. Their new DS model, DSi, sold 171,925 units in the first two days of release. This is a complete triumph compared to the newly modeled PSP that sold 50,358 units in the same period. Nintendo also topped the software charts with 33 of the Top 50 being titles for the DS or Wii. 12 of the Top 50 titles were published by Nintendo, most notably Pokon Platinum at #4 with sales of 47,423 units.

Asian stocks rose for a second week after central banks cut interest rates and Barack Obama's presidential victory in the U.S. Nintendo continued gains for a second day with a stock rally of 7%. Bloomberg News directly attributes Nintendo's stock gains to president-elect Obama's plans for a $175 billion stimulus package for relief of the struggling American middle-class.
