Kirby's Epic Yarn Not Coming Until 2011 In Europe
Tucked away within Nintendo's press release detailing all of the games they'll be bringing to their GamesCom booth was a piece of information which will no doubt disappoint Kirby fans.
Unveiled officially at E3 back in June, Kirby's Epic Yarn was one of the biggest announcements at the show and stole the hearts of gamers and journalists respectively, picking up many post E3 plaudits for its unique visual style and platforming action. Sadly, a date was not given by Nintendo for when the game would be out, rather a release window for this year.
However, after a recent Nintendo of Japan financial release listed the game as a 2011 release in Europe, many gamers grew nervous about whether the title would or wouldn't meet a 2010 release date. Today, Nintendo of Europe have confirmed, through way of their GamesCom press release, that Kirby's Epic Yarn will not see a release in Europe until the first quarter of 2011, which will no doubt disappoint many who were eagerly waiting to get their hands on the game. As of this moment in time, the game is still on for a 2010 release in North America, although Nintendo of America have yet to release an updated release schedule for the next quarter.
While it may be disappointing, it makes sense for Nintendo to give both it and their other big platforming title for the holiday season, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and fair share of market space to get the attention they deserve. And no doubt the wait for the title next year won't be too long if the game does indeed meet it's 2010 release in North America.

I was looking forward to it too- but for me I thought this year would be too crowded. I'm not to sure. Nintendo wise theres probably nothing I really want ASAP- so probably just pick up Goldeneye and Epic Mickey this year- oh yeah Last Window, but thats a DS title.
Lately we in US have been getting games earlier than even Japan.
I'm honestly looking forward to this more than Donnkey Kong Country Returns. I'll play/get both but I think I'd rather have Kirby first, although I understand why Nintendo are delaying it. Still, regardless of when it releases, I'll be there to pick it up as I'm a fan of the Kirby games (Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush is fantastic as is the original).
Pity, kind of looking forward to this one. Although I'm not really a Kirby-fan (only really went through Nightmare in Dreamland on GameBoy), the visuals of this one made me hunger for more since the surprise at E3. I'll be sure to give this one a try next week at Gamescom.
