Phoenix Wright is back... and so is Layton

If you are, like us, happy with the latest Professor Layton titles and kind of sad because the Phoenix Wright-saga is over: think again! As Level 5 and Capcom have announced a Phoenix Wright-Professor Layton crossover... Just when you think you've seen it all.

Level 5 and Capcom are said to have been looking into opportunities together for quite some time now, and today during the so-called "Vision Event", Level 5 (developer of the Layton-series) has revealed a crossover title for Nintendo 3DS based on both Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright. The game is currently titled "Professor Vs. Gyakuten Saiban" for Japan.

Keeping the themes of both Professor Layton (Level 5) and Ace Attorney (Capcom) the game will be a combination of a puzzle and crime mystery game. The writer behind Ace Attorney is working on the game as well, and it's possible the story revolves around a 'Witch Trial'.

Level 5 President Akihiro Hino describes this title as 'two tv shows getting together and making a movie'.

It's expected to come out next year, even though nothing is concrete and it is heading for the 3DS. We do however have some footage of the announcement trailer showing some of the main characters: Layton, Luke, Maya and Phoenix.
