Resident Evil for Nintendo 3DS - New screenshots of both games
Capcom has released a batch of screenshots for both Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D.
Capcom has released new screenshots of the two upcoming Resident Evil titles for Nintendo DS. With re-mastered stages from Resident Evil4 and Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D delivers the intense Mercenaries gameplay experience for the first time on a handheld console. Whether playing alone or teaming up in co-op mode, it's a race against time to defeat as many enemies as possible before the countdown reaches zero. Resident Evil stars like Chris Redfield, Hunk, and Krauser are now joined by Claire Redfield, who is making her Mercenaries debut. The game will define the shooter experience on the 3DS, blending familiar console controls and the all-new ability to run and shoot in a Resident Evil game.
Built from the ground up for the Nintendo 3DS, Resident Evil: Revelations sees Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield investigating a deadly threat on board a stranded cruise liner. The pair will need to fight for survival as they explore the dark and claustrophobic environments both at sea and as the action moves to dry land. Join them as they delve deeper into the secrets of this all new addition to one of gaming's most successful series.

I wouldn't say the series went downhill from 3 onwards. A new direction sure but it went downhill with RE 5, which did away with any semblance of horror in exchange for a co-op action game, and an average one at that. RE 4 was pretty much the pinnacle of the series and if they could replicate that game with more horror elements, then I really think Revelations will be a great game. And it seems like they're doing just that from what I'm hearing.
Funny thing, I recently talked to a colleague about how the RE series went downwards from part 3 on. Part 1 and 2 really were 'scary' adventures (just like Alone in the Dark), where 4 and 5 were more action-driven. Next day, Capcom reveals they wanted to go back to the RE-roots with the new RE-games because of the same thing :)
I'm hoping Revelations is more Resident Evil 4 than 5 as I didn't enjoy the 5th one. But it, and Mercenaries, is looking great and being able to now run and shoot at the same time is definitely a move in the right direction. It makes you wonder, though, what these games would look like if they didn't use the 3D effect and just used all of the 3DSs power for processing a single image. It'd look incredible.
