NDS Engine Software to release Flipper sequel

One of the most interesting DSiWare titles to date, Flipper, will get a sequel. What will become next of the popular goldfish?

Engine Software today announces it has signed a publishing and development agreement with indie developer Goodbye Galaxy Games regarding a sequel to Flipper, the award winning DSiWare game.

The sequel to the succesful and award winning first game, in which a boy had to save his poor goldfish Flipper, is already well underway and more details regarding the second game will be released in the coming months. Goodbye Galaxy Games will continue to work on the major part of the development of the game but Engine Software will also dedicate resources to aid in development, including the audio work.

Hugo Smits, founder of Goodbye Galaxy Games and spiritual father of the Flipper games is said to be delighted to have signed with Engine Software to publish the second game: "Engine Software has a massive amount of experience on this platform and a long lasting relationship with Nintendo. This was the major reason behind my decision to sign with them and I am delighted that they also offered to help out with development where they can."

Engine Software will not put a specific release date on the second Flipper game but they are aiming for a release in the second quarter of 2011. Ivo Wubbels, CEO of Engine Software, added "We don't want Goodbye Galaxy Games to get fixated on a date rather than the quality and content of the game; we will release it when the game is done."
