WII First Trailer for Pandora's Tower

Having been announced back in January and remaining elusive to coverage, today Nintendo have released the first trailer and details for their new game Pandora's Tower on the Wii.

The game, being developed by Ganbarion whose track record includes various One Piece and Jump Superstars titles, looks to be a 3D action-adventure title, similar to the likes of Devil May Cry and God of War and is set within the kingdom of Elysium on the Graecia continent during the harvest festival.

The story centres around two characters named Ende, a 22 year old former soldier, and Ceres, a 15 year old girl chosen to sing at the harvest festival and a firm believer of the Eos religion. When Ceres is kidnapped by a beast during the festival, it is found that she has also been cursed and so as Ende, you travel to 12 towers scattered throughout the kingdom in the hope of slaying beasts for their flesh so as to lift her curse.

It looks set to one of Nintendo's more mature titles in recent times, and looks as though there will be a prevailing Grecian theme running throughout the game. It's currently set for release in Japan on May 26th.

Whether the game is going to be released outside of Japan yet is unknown but due to the popularity of the genre in the West and the direction the gameplay is heading, perhaps this could be one of Nintendo's announcements for the forthcoming E3 conference in June.

  • Definitely not what I thought the game was going to be like, and surprised that it wasn't Monolith Soft working on the game. Nonetheless, it looks interesting. Was perhaps hoping for something a bit more... epic but I guess an action adventure will do. They'll need to have nailed the gameplay though if it's going to be the Wii's answer to God of War or Bayonetta.

  • Nice, they made great Jump Superstars series, however their One Piece games are kinda weak. So it's good to see they stick with 2D style as opposed to their 3D games.
