CoD: Modern Warfare 3 Confirmed for Wii
After third party peripheral companies letting the cat out of the bag early, yet the developers keeping quiet on the subject, Activision have officially announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is indeed heading to the Wii this year.
Mentioned briefly by Activision publishing executive Eric Hirshberg, the publishing giant has officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be heading to the Wii this Autumn alongside the other home console versions, and that regular CoD developers for the Wii version Treyarch will be carrying out this version of the game again. This should of course come as no surprise seeing as Treyarch previously handled the (excellent) port of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition on the Wii.
No other information was made available about the Wii version, a situation which has been the case for almost every edition of Call of Duty in the past years with little to no information or footage being shown until the game is in gamers' hands. Given Microsoft's exclusive dealings with Activision, don't expect things to change this time around. Similarly, no information was given as to how the Wii version will bridge the gap between the first and third titles, seeing as the second title hasn't been released on the console.
Rumours are also currently circulating over potential DS and 3DS releases of the game, although no official word has been made at this time. As such, it's a case of wait and see no whether a version will hit those handhelds but we'll be sure to bring you any announcements as soon as they're made.
