3DS The Adventures of Tintin - First 3DS screenshots

After having a session with The Adventures of Tintin: The Game for Nintendo 3DS last week at GamesCom, we just had to get you a few first pictures of the game... And we did.

After having a short session with The Adventures of Tintin: The Game for Nintendo 3DS last week at GamesCom, we just knew we had to tell our visitors some more about this game. Thanks to Ubisoft, we can not only tell you about Tintin's adventure but also show you some of the first visuals from the Nintendo 3DS version.

In The Adventures of Tintin: The Game, you play as Tintin, the intrepid reporter and hero. In the game, you will experience non-stop action and adventure as they investigate the mystery of a lifetime that may lead them to one of the greatest sunken treasures. But the quest won't be easy and players will need to join forces with the quick-witted dog Snowy and the grumpy Captain Haddock to beat greedy art collectors, kooky arms dealers, and other crooks to reveal the truth behind the Secret of the Unicorn ship.

The short demo we got to play with consisted out of two different parts:

  1. An action-platformer
  2. A flight-mode
Action-platformer The first part (the platformer) seemed like an ordinary platformer at first, although the visuals come pretty close to those of its bigger console brothers'. Move around with Tintin, jump some gaps, climb some stairs... your average platformer, right? Not quite. Tintin seemed more to be a cartoon-version of Assassins Creed or a Prince of Persia (both also from the Ubisoft stables coincidentally): Use walls to your advantage, use stealth to sneak up on enemies, etc. The AI used for the enemies also seemed to be up to nowadays' standards as they'll actually hunt you down, even when you decide to take a giant leap. No more laughing from the other side of the canyon: what you can do, they can do (sometimes even better).

Hit the skies However, the platformer-part wasn't the thing that excited us the most. The flight part was our jaw-dropping moment: this must've been one of the best 3D effects on Nintendo 3DS yet! We're not sure how to explain this, but the effects used on the clouds made it seem like there was a true "tunnel made of clouds" inside your Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately, you will have to do with the 2D-shots below...

If Ubisoft can maintain this level, you won't hear us complain anymore.
