FrameStudios found a new way to gain extra profits from the same game: just use popular characters in each country!
The 'original' game, called Gem Smashers, was released a while ago in Europe and the US. These versions featured three playable characters called Bau, Bam and Bom. In the screens below, you can see two parts of the US-version.
Gem Smashers wasn't released in Japan yet, but FrameStudios (and their publisher Metro3D) saw some opportunities there. They took the original game and swapped all images of Bau, Bam and Bom with those of a very known license for Japan, the Umininn characters (which you can see below).
We're almost sure these tactics will work. Just imagine the hype there would've been if Nintendo asked for a Pokon version of the game. Perhaps this is also the way to convert some of the Japanese-only games to have a decent chance in Europe and the US.
