Pokémon Conquest - Facts and new screenshots
Probably one of the last games heading for Nintendo DS is Pokémon Conquest. Head inside to see what Tecmo KOEI did with the popular franchise.
Pokémon Conquest gives players a whole new way to experience the popular Pokémon series on the Nintendo DS family of systems. The game can also be played on the Nintendo 3DS system in 2D mode. Players step into the role of Warlords who are linked with Pokémon and must fortify their growing kingdom by recruiting skilled Warlord and Warrior allies. They will encounter a wide variety of Pokémon along the way, as well as mighty Warlords such as Nobunaga. As Warlords, players must choose the best tactics and most suitable Pokémon for each 6-on-6 turn-based battle. Nearly 200 Pokémon are included in the game, including many from Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version.
Features
- Pokémon Conquest takes place in an adventure-filled region called Ransei, which is made up of 17 different kingdoms - one for each of the 17 Pokémon types. The ruling Warlords of these kingdoms are determined to take control and unite the region in hopes of awakening the Legendary Pokémon. The game includes 36 playable Warlords, each with its own unique storyline.
- The action in Pokémon Conquest is mostly centered on the battlefield, where Warlords and their Pokémon face off in strategic turn-based skirmishes. Players can control Pokémon, Warriors and other Warlords in battle. Each Warlord also has a special ability that can be used to help Pokémon on the battlefield, such as special healing spells.
- With each victory, Warlords can recruit additional Warriors and Warlords (some inspired by significant figures in Japanese history) and gain access to more Pokémon. As they take control of new kingdoms, they must also be sure to have enough allies to defend against invasion.
- Players may encounter wildly different battle environments across the game's many kingdoms. From falling rocks to spouts of hot lava, conditions can have a big effect on how each battle unfolds.
- Intense battles require strategic thinking at every step. For example, some Pokémon types can be more powerful against certain opponents than others, and players can multiply the damage they inflict by attacking from behind. Battles can grow to include up to 12 Pokémon in a 6-on-6 skirmish.
- Players can use a local wireless connection to challenge a friend who has his or her own Nintendo DS system or Nintendo 3DS playing in 2D mode and Pokémon Conquest game card.
