Olaf's Grown Old

Even Nintendo character grow old. Olaf from Advance Wars is a perfect example of that...

Most gamers remember Olaf, the CO from the Blue Moon Army from Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2. A few years after the US and European releases of these games, Japan got their own version of the two games bundled in one cartridge: Advance Wars 1 + 2. The Japanese version was said to be exactly equal to the original versions, but we spotted a difference...

Just as a small reminder, take a look at these two screenshots from the English version of Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2:

In both images, we can see Olaf himself. Nothing wrong here. Now take a look at a Japanese (official) wallpaper based on Advance Wars 1 + 2. Olaf's beard... has gone white!

We wonder what will have happened to Olaf by the time Advance Wars DS is released...

  Not true. Sonja's outfit is also changed... Plus Grit got a cowboy hat now. =P In the japanese version, Olaf's name is Whip. That's pretty funny.

  Guess what... I wanna do some pointless speculation myself: Look at this wallpaper: http://nintendo.co.jp/n08/bgwj/download/gwa12_1024_3.jpg There are pictures of all of the leaders of the countries' armies, except for Orange Star there's a picture of Andy, not Nell. (!) Maybe in the next game Andy will have been promoted! ...Or maybe not. Hey! Isn't that even more exciting than the title of this news story? ...No. Anyways, no pun intended, Dennis. =)
