Rayman DS - Pal Boxart
We received a boxart of the PAL version of Rayman DS yesterday, but we held that one from you. Why? Head inside for the answer.
Yesterday, we received the green boxart (below) of Rayman DS in the mail.
As can be seen, the box looks different from the earlier released blue box for the US region (below).
With the text on the green image written in Dutch (translated into "March 2005"), we started a small investigation. First of all, the green boxart looked a bit dodgy. Why would Ubisoft release an image with Dutch text, and why does it look like the box is like the original GBA boxes: cardboard instead of the mini-dvd cases used in the US and Japan?
Our first step was Ubisofts Dutch department. Since Ubisoft NL does no longer have a corporate website of their own, we were forced to the UK department. No trace of a green boxart there. Italy? Nothing. Spain perhaps? Again, blue boxes. We were starting to doubt the validity of the box...
Until we noticed that other (Dutch) websites received the very same image, some claiming it came straight from Ubisoft NL. The boxart was spreading so we continued our little search. We ended up with the German department of Ubisoft. The Germans did show the very same green box, yet not in the 3D view as seen above (and in an awefully low resolution).
Conclusion Since an official (PAL-region) Ubisoft website is showing the boxart, we believe the boxart is indeed genuine. However, whether the 3D image is simply a render of a box, or really a hint towards the continuing cardboard boxes... We're hoping for the first...

I wouldn't put it past the bastards of NoE. When DON'T we get screwed?
I hope we do get the plastic boxes rather than the cardboard ones. They store the games so much better.
If they really do end up using cardboard...well...damn, that's gonna hurt. Good luck guys.
Please, Nintendo, don't do this to us! We want Mini-DVD boxes! Greetz from NL!
