Scrat Returns in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

Scrat, world's most liked furry sabre-tooted squirrel, is returning to the Game Boy Advance and makes his debut on the Nintendo DS next Spring.

Vivendi Universal Games announced that a video game is in development based on 20th Century Fox's upcoming family film, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. The game will be available in stores this Spring 2006 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and PC.

"We are excited to continue our successful partnership with Fox to create an extension of the Ice Age story in a fully engaging interactive entertainment experience," said Peter Della Penna, Chief Operating Officer, Product Development for VU Games. "Academy Award-winning animation studio Blue Sky, has contributed an impressive visual style and hilarious storyline for our development partners to turn into great family gaming."

Elie Dekel, Executive Vice President Licensing & Merchandising, added, "VUG is a great and proven partner for some of our major theatrical releases. In conjunction with the release of the motion picture Ice Age 2, the release of this outstanding video game brilliantly expands on our Ice Age franchise."

In the movie (and the game), the Ice Age is ending and our subzero heroes return in this action adventure video game set in a melting paradise of water parks, geysers and tar pits. Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth and Diego the Sabre-Toothed Tiger are back and realize that the melting glaciers will soon flood their valley. With the help of everyone's favorite sabre-toothed squirrel from the first movie, Scrat, help your big friends cross the perilous landscape to safety.

Scrat will dig, swim, sniff, spin and roll his in his never-ending quest to collect acorns. In the process, he serves as the unwitting hero in the quest to save the land from a giant flood.
