Daisenryaku DS: Great Strategy - Screenshots
You might like the cartoony style used in the Advance Wars-series, but Genki loves a more realistic look.
Genki has revealed two screenshots of its latest project: Daisenryaku DS: Great Strategy. Daisenryaku is a strategy games comparable with Advance Wars.
The game is currently set for a Japanese release on May 25.

the graphics are verry nice
oh beeyotiful grafix whens it comin out?
The previous versions of Dai Senryaku wasn't developed by Genki though, besides Dai Senryaku Portable for the PSP (as far as I know). I'm looking forward to see if they can live up to the high standards set by SystemSoft.
Not to be a jerk, but those of you comparing this to Advance Wars have no idea what you're talking about. Firstly, as has been pointed out Dai Senryaku predates AW - there's been 7 previous versions that I know of. Secondly, it is "the same" only in the same sense that Halo and America's Army are "the same". One is a fun, accessible and light on realism experience, the other is a much more detailed, tactical simulation of conflict. We can talk about how this is copying Advance Wars as soon as the former switches out its Normal/Medium/Neo/Mega Tank structure for a complex hierarchy of real-world tank classes and model numbers, divided by national producer and with each individual tank having several weapons and sometimes different loadouts. Sheesh.
What the heck? This si exactly Advance Wars. Gees, why can't people make original games?
Looks cool!
To be good it needs to have alot of things that Advance Wars doesn't have, it need something new and different, but I don't there's much that can be done...
It looks nice, but I don't need another advance wars. I really want a DS update of the GBA Zone of The Enders game - but hopefully they could make it challenging this time. It was a lovely game, just far too easy.
ahh, but Daisenryaku first came out in 1986, it seems, on various Japanese computers (at least the MSX2, which usually means it showed up on one or two other platforms before it started to go to console). That said, I'm pretty sure it's been intentionally modeled after the graphical style of Advance Wars. You have to admit it fits, doesn't it?
AFAIK Famicom Wars came out a month or two before Daisenryaku came out.
Looks very nice :)
Daisenryaku is actually pretty insanely deep from what I can recollect and hopefully will be translated to the portable version. =) Nice to know that such a deep strategy system made it to the DS in the end.
As an advance wars fan and an avid handheld TBS freak, I'll have to say I'll pass...unless it has wifi...and even then it just dosn't feel the same. This game seems kinda bland compared to AWDS, not to mention a sequel is most likely going to be announced at E3.
does this game even have a storyline???
is it wifi compatible?
why ouldnt they tke nintendo to court? man id be mad if some company ripped off my game and made big bucks
Actually, Daisenryaku series came out way before Advance Wars (sequal of Famicon Wars). So to be correct, it's Advance Wars that's similar to Daisenryaku series.
ya 2 much the same.
Wow, yeah i'd agree with Metroidhead... even the units look the same.
if someone showed me that bottom screen id say "yay advance wars 4", so yeah, couldnt look any more like advance wars
