@Ben: YES!! It definetly was.. too bad that every player had to have an GBA.. I only knew 1 Person who owned one back then and this one had´nt have time to play often :/ But it was a huge lot of fun :D Singleplayer the game wasn´t all bad, but it was something like "Legend of Mana - Light". Got boring VERY fast :/ But multiplayer rocks! =)
so the FF3 we're getting on the DS WAS in fact the third one (chronologically), but never released i the US... the 3rd one here is really the 6th one chronologically ... weird :|
i was thinking all along that the FF3 i had (SNES) was the one I'd be gettin on DS... :|
@Azu:
Just to make it totaly corect ;)
FF1 = FF1 in US
FF2 = Not released in US (untill remakes came out)
FF3 = Not released either
FF4 = FF2 in US
FF5 = FF5 in US
FF6 = FF3 in US
Anyone still confused? xD
EDIT:
@Ben: Wow, two guy - one idea xD You were faster xD
Here is the original FF names and the FF they were released as in the US.
Japan - US
FF 1 = FF 1 (PS1, NES, GBA)
FF 2 = FF 4 (PS1), FF2 (GBA)
FF 3 = FF3 (NDS)
FF 4 = FF 2 (SNES), FF4 (GBA)
FF 5 = FF 5 (PS1), FF5 (GBA)
FF 6 = FF 3 (SNES, PS1), FF6 (GBA)
sorry, i didnt mean to post yet... 0_0;
my bad... i mean those are EXACTLY from FFIII, i have it for SNES, and that looks like Terra, riding a Magitech thing.. in the 1st town (forgets name)
but thats cool... btw, isnt THAT the FF coming to DS? FF3? just like THESE images? im confused
Uhh... Final Fantasy 6 isn't really a sequel to FF5 because... Well, you know. None of the "normal" Final Fantasy games are sequels nor prequels to one another.
@Superviking: Seems like a dream to imagine FF 7/8/9 with the visuals of the Cube version of Resident Evil 0/1.. I´m playing FF8 at the moment (maybe the sixth or seventh time now ;) ) And I realy would love such a remake =) Lets hope the Revo will break all the records like DS does, so maybe SquareEnix will make this dream come true :D
It would be great if they make FF 7, 8 and 9 voor de revo :D (i have them already for the ps1, but i think it is great to have a better quality version of them on the revo ^^)
A DS cartridge can hold 1gigabit of data, thats 128MB. Resident Evil on N64 was under 64MB so the DS could hold it no problem.
During the N64 v Playstation era, a video company offered to port Final Fantasy VII onto one N64 catridge with almost no affect to video quality.
So in essence, it could be ported to the DS - hell, it could have been ported to GBA, but the graphics limit it somewhat.
I have to say it again: Its so freaking Awesome!! FF VI is the best part of the whole great series (wich make it maybe the best game ever) IMHO :D
Can´t see any difference to the original SNES-Version, but well.. graphics were quite good back then and there isn´t much to improve on GBA
nintendo didn't acutally mention the memory of a ds cartride did they? cos resdent evil on ds sure got to be well over 700mb does that mean they could fit FF7 on ds q[^_^]p

Crystal Chronicles was awesome in multiplayer as I've recently found out.

Square really needs to make a new FF for GBA or DS (probably DS). No Crystal Chronicles--a REAL FF. But regardless, this looks pretty nice.
@stylusx: Your right, there is no videos available online yet - however, I would expect to see videos at E3.

These screens look like Final Fantasy III
I saw these shots a year ago. When are we going to get a release date for the English version?

yeah so they could do f7 8 9 on ds ^^ forget touch screen just import file from ps to ds ^^ DOUBT it ever happening though
FF V and VI were so great ^^
Dennis: I thought the current maximum storage for a DS cart was 1Gbit, is this not true?
Yay! my second fave FF game.. very solid looking but do i really want to play it again after i completed it many times before? ;S
Yep, that's correct.
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence is 1 Gbit (128 MB). I think the current technology allowed for cards up to 4 Gbit though.

III is coming for the Nintendo DS. Here are some comparisons of screenshots between the NES FF3 and the DS FF3. http://www.ds-x2.com/index.php?id=4419
