DS Lite American Launch Date Announced

Nintendo continue the flow of pre-E3 news with the announcement of the DS Lite Launch date for the US.

Sunday June 11th will see the DS Lite reach the US, for a price of US$129.99. At launch, though, we'll only be seeing the Polar White colour - presumably the same unit as Japan's Crystal White.

Nintendo are marketing the console as a companion piece to New Super Mario Bros. - which will be out on the 15th of May in the US. "DS Lite and New Super Mario Bros. represent a double shot of gaming excellence," says Reggie Fils-Aime. "We've got something for both lovers of beautiful, new gadgets and fans of old-school gaming."

No doubt you all know the details of the unit off by heart by now, but for those who came in late:

* It's less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter. * Its two bright screens can be adjusted to four levels to adapt to different lighting conditions and to extend battery power. * The microphone sits in the center of the unit, and the LED lights are clearly visible whether the unit is open or closed. * The stylus is 1 centimeter longer and 1 millimeter thicker than the stylus of the original, and slides into a side storage slot. * The Start and Select buttons were repositioned for easier access. * A removable cover keeps the Game Boy® Advance cartridge slot clear from dust and debris when it's not in use.

  I think just the DS. But I'm going to try and sell my original DS about mid may (after I buy New Super Mario and played it for a week). And then since I have finals coming up I'll sell my ds so I can't play during studying and then buy the DS lite.
